I’M GOING TO JAPAN.
Officially.
With ASSE.
I ended up not getting the scholarship, but as far as Ben could tell, the only reason the kid who got it got it was because he was president of the student council.
Ah well, no big deal.
We still get a 10% discount.
So my package has been sent off to Japan to find a host family/town/school.
Okay, I finally have something to update with!
So after waiting a month, I figured that was enough time for me to email Ben at ASSE and ask about the scholarships. I also took the opportunity to ask about what orientations we’d have and if people who give donations to me would get a tax receipt (I had planned to write to the local businesses).
Ben replied saying that decisions for the scholarships would be done on Wednesday or Thursday…OF THIS WEEK.
I am so nervous. He said there were a lot of applicants going to Japan, so it’s taking longer than usual.
He also said that “there will be a CDN ASSE Area
Representative that will work with a departing student prior to
departure for Japan and then when the students arrive in Japan, there is
a short orientation program before joining the Host Families.”
And in response to my last question, he said that, no, donaters don’t get tax receipts, but he gave me other ideas for raising money toward my exchange.
So cross your fingers for me people!
